Piece nº 02 of this design.
Overall size: 47 x 24 x 2.5 cm.
Weight: 843.5 grams.
2 mm solid wood. of ramin, cherry, mansonia (African walnut) and mahogany.
4mm cedar. for the base of each strip.
Okola veneer on both sides of the main board, with hidden magnets and side finishes with chalk paint for the plywood board that supports the four pieces.
This piece has 16 magnets, eight of them hidden.
A delicate design due to the small details and the complexity of each illustration. Undoubtedly the most difficult part of this design is gluing the tiny pieces.
In this second version I have inlaid gold (fake gold leaf, also called Italian or decorative) and the result is just what I was looking for.
Chance and a shipwreck.
The spell.
A little transformation and a big wedding.
Chance and a hook.
And just as it came, it left. This is Osito: he lets himself be carried away by the current to arrive and leave without saying or deciding, without joy or regret, without attachment, without looking back. The shipwreck brought him, a hook takes him away. There is no regret for what is left behind or excitement for what tomorrow holds.
For his part, the old cricket (now a fish bone) uses his tricks to cast a spell on Osito, make him his wife and have children. The unexpected hook will unleash his crying and that of his offspring.
This is the second piece made in 2021 with this design (the first was discarded for various reasons).
This is a small work, delicate in its details and complex in its three-dimensionality, made with the best solid woods. Wood cut with laser light and glued with great care.
This design is always built with different woods, being sold as a unique piece identifiable through its grain, recognizable in the archival photographic references that the author makes of each piece and shows on this website. An unambiguous form of identification.
This piece is only sold upon request. Given the complexity of its execution, it may take a minimum of four weeks to finish and deliver.
For any questions or concerns, please contact the author.
This piece is shipped in a cardboard box, protected inside with extra-firm foam (density 40 kg per cubic meter) and outside with plastic protection.
I recommend not exposing this piece to direct sunlight, or high temperatures or places with high humidity: solid wood is a living and delicate material that must be protected. If necessary, any dust that may accumulate can be removed with a soft brush. The piece was only polished with natural wax: it does not contain varnishes or dyes.
The piece has a built-in hanger on the back (it does not appear in the photograph), in case you want to hang it on a wall.
